Welcome to Halstead Preparatory School, the highly rated independent day school for girls, set within Surrey woodlands and a short walk from the commuter town of Woking. This website will give you a glimpse of our school, but we very much hope that you will also come and visit us and experience the qualities that make Halstead so special.

Halstead welcomes girls from rising threes to eleven years. From our Nursery to our Year Six we strive to provide a caring, nurturing environment in which girls can learn and flourish. The school, which was established in 1927, has a happy atmosphere, and feels like home. The Halstead education combines the most valuable aspects of innovation and of tradition. Thus we strive to give all our girls a rock-solid academic foundation, a love of music, sport, art, dance, drama and essential proficiency with technology. This education is grounded in time-tested values such as team-playing, good manners, considerate behaviour and the Christian ethos.

Our greatest strength is our teaching staff, and we prepare our
girls for their senior schools through a forward-looking curriculum,
and through dedicated and challenging teaching in first-class
facilities. The school is non-selective, but Halstead pupils achieve
consistently high examination results, and many are awarded
scholarships to the prestigious local senior schools. When they
leave our school and step into that wider world, Halstead girls
are well-educated, well-rounded and with innate confidence and
self-esteem, truly reflecting the school motto, believe in yourself.
