Clubs & Activities
It is Halstead’s fundamental educational philosophy to educate the whole child and sports, art and craft, music, drama and dance, cultural activities and educational visits are important parts of the school curriculum. Netball, hockey and rounders matches and swimming galas take place for older pupils. We believe strongly that sport should be fun for everyone and all pupils over the age of nine are given opportunities to represent their school in sports matches, whether in the A,B, C or D team. Halstead is proud to be a creative school and the high standard of pottery, textiles and painting can be seen in displays around the school.  The school also has an enviable reputation for music and drama with a notable record of success in local festivals by choirs, orchestra and poetry recital groups. Educational visits are arranged for all year groups. Year Five girls enjoy an annual residential visit in England and Year Six visit France for a week. Older girls also have the popular option of spending a weekend at an activity centre during the summer term.

Social awarenes
s is a quality valued highly at Halstead and the House system provides a framework within which girls learn to help others. The school’s participation in the Eco-Schools programme raises pupils’ awareness of environmental issues.  Girls can develop their persuasive skills and make decisions about the school through their voice on the School Council.

Afte
r school girls can participate in a wide range of activities to extend the day’s learning; judo, photography, art and craft, debating, ballet and tennis coaching are just some of the activities offered. The school also hosts a Brownie pack. Courses, for example cycling proficiency and clubs are also available during the holidays.
