Year 6 trip to France
The girls of Year 6 spent a week in Normandy just before half term.  They had a week packed full of activities, including visits to the D-Day beaches and war cemeteries, the Bayeux Tapestry, a market and a traditional boulangerie.  They also had daily French lessons and were introduced to French cuisine – including “escargots”!
Year 1 on the Isle of Wight
On Friday 27th June Year 1 travelled to the Isle of Wight. We met at Woking station very early and very excited about the day ahead. Our journey took us on a train, a catamaran and one of the old London underground trains.
We had a fantastic day on the beach; we built sandcastles and paddled in the sea. After lunch we went on the Dotto train and wrote postcards home to our families. Then we bought a yummy ice cream. We all got a wonderful windmill, which blew in the sea breeze.
It was a very tiring day but we had lots of fun.
Year 6 Cross-curricular fortnight
This year the theme for Cross-Curricular fortnight wasTransport and Travel. The girls visited London to experience journeys by train, boat, the Docklands Light Railway and the Tube. They also went to Brooklands Museum in Weybridge where they learnt about the history of various modes of transport including stepping onto a Concorde. Other highlights included bicycle riding on Horsell Common and flying the kites they made at Selsey. An enjoyable and stimulating fortnight for the girls.
Grandparents' Day
Over 350 grandparents, from all around the country and as far away as America, came to visit Halstead.  The girls were very excited about showing relatives their  work and the school’s excellent facilities. The visitors also enjoyed musical entertainment and delicious home baked cakes.  One grandparent said, ‘Our grandchildren are lucky girls in having such a bright and happy environment, no wonder they love going to school so much.’ Another  commented, We never had such facilities and opportunities in our day.
