Halstead Preparatory School is a thriving independent Day School, founded in 1927,  specialising in the education of girls aged 2 to 11 years. Within an idyllic setting the girls enjoy learning in specialist facilities including well resourced classrooms, a music suite, ICT suite, science laboratory, art room, design & technology classroom and a food technology classroom as well as a stage, sports hall,  running track, tennis and netball courts and beautiful play areas.

There is never a dull moment as a member of the Halstead family with plenty of fun and hard work as the girls enjoy their prep school days. The curriculum is broad including music, art, design & technology, drama, dance, food technology, ICT, swimming, gymnastics and a range of sports as well as the academic subjects of English, maths, French, science, history, geography and religious education. Specialist subject teaching increases as pupils go through the school ensuring an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and motivating approach from their teachers. A wide range of extra-curricular clubs enriches the girls’ experiences and gives further opportunities to discover and nurture their interests and talents. From the start girls appreciate the calm, purposeful environment in which they can enjoy focussing on learning at the pace that is right for them and having lots of fun along the way.  At 11 girls leave us with a sense of achievement, self-belief, secure foundations to future study and ready for their senior education.

With no affiliation to any one senior school we work with parents to ensure that their daughter progresses to the school that is right for her at age eleven and preparation for entrance examinations is thorough. Halstead girls have a long history of success in the number of first-choice places and the many scholarships awarded.

A strong sense of community, warm rapport between staff, parents and girls and respect for others is part of everyday life and reflects our Christian ethos. Through excellent teaching in a nurturing environment every Halstead girl is encouraged to believe in herself and it is our belief that by presenting her with every possible opportunity along the way she will develop into a confident, happy and successful individual who looks back with many fond memories of her prep school years.

Halstead girls always impress with their enthusiasm for learning, positive outlook and friendly consideration of others.
